MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – At Northern Michigan University on Saturday the Superior Beekeeping Club joined for the annual U.P. Beekeeping Conference in the Seaborg Center. The beekeeping community hosts events like this to connect and educate each other.
This conference offered discussions, lectures, exposure to companies to provide services and products, and lunch. People came from all over the U.P. to participate in this community bonding. They had multiple different companies for beekeeping, either boxes or plants for them to pollinate, even candles made from beeswax.
The founder of the Superior Beekeeping Club, Joel Lantz, shared how impactful this conference can be to those who are not beekeepers.
“Encourage even non-beekeepers to be here because you find out, what can you do to help pollinators you know, one out of three of us eat cause of bees they pollinate our food so all these people here are really doing a service for everybody else and this community has been very supportive of that,” said Lantz.
He says these events are important to the beekeeping community not just for education but the bonding as well.
