MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Hundreds of senior citizens will get a home cooked easter meal this year thanks to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.
Teams of volunteers have been working throughout the weekend to cook and prepare meals in 5 counties around the Upper Peninsula.
The meals include ham, potatoes, vegetables, bread, and homemade desserts. Meals are completely free to seniors and even include a home visit from a volunteer.
“They are overwhelmed with the kindness that is presented to them, not only with the meal, but with the decorated bag from the middle school kids, and flowers and other things, they get a friendly visit and that is what Little Brothers is all about,” remarked Leslie Bek, the organizer of the Marquette meal distribution site.
Little Brother’s Friends of the Elderly is always looking for volunteers to help with their mission. To find more about the work they do or to contribute visit here.
