ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The buzz around the City of Ishpeming is circling a food-based nonprofit that’s looking for people interested in hives.
Beekeeping Apprenticeship opportunities are hosted by Partridge Creek Farms, giving people a glimpse into what it’s like caring for bees.
The program runs from April 6 until the end of the year, instructing you how to clean a hive safely, introduce new bees, and build a bee population for your own use.
“There’s also several field trips where you actually go out and see active bee hives in different areas and different locations to see what established hives look like and it wraps up at the end of the year with spinning your own honey and being able to take some honey home so you have the honey of your labor,” commented Partridge Creek Farm Executive Director Sara Johnson.
Applications are due April 2. To sign up, click here.
