BAY DE NOC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gladstone Post are investigating an assault involving a firearm in Masonville Township.
At approximately 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, troopers were dispatched to a shared driveway area on the Stonington Peninsula for a report of a dispute between neighbors involving a firearm. Upon arrival, troopers learned two neighbors who shared the driveway had an argument over road maintenance issues.
The alleged suspect, a 79-year-old male, produced a baseball bat and revolver. He fired multiple rounds at the alleged victim, a 67-year-old male. None of the rounds struck the victim, who used a small tractor to defend himself. According to MSP, he eventually pinned the suspect to the ground until troopers arrived.
The injured suspect was transported to UP Health Systems in Marquette for treatment.
UPDATE ON MARCH 27, 2024: The Michigan State Police Gladstone Post continues to investigate the incident. The suspect continues treatment at UP Health Systems.

MSP also made a correction to the original release, noting the incident occurred in Bay De Noc Township. They also said the alleged suspect is a 67-year-old male from the area.
