MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in a fatal car fire Friday night.
MCSO believes 23-year-old Alex Duquette of Marquette Township is the victim and the lone occupant. Due to extensive injuries and the subsequent fire, a positive identification through DNA analysis is pending.
An investigation revealed the vehicle was involved in a high speed crash on County Road 492 near Everly Way. MSCO says the car caught fire after leaving the roadway and hitting several trees.
Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

On Friday, March 15th at approximately 9:50 PM, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle fire on County Road 492 near Everly Way.
On arrival, Officers found a single vehicle engulfed in flames in a wooded area off of County Road 492. The fire was quickly put out by the Marquette Township Fire Department. A single victim was found in the vehicle. The name of the victim will not be released at this time pending positive identification.
The Michigan State Police, Marquette Township Fire and EMS, UP Health Systems EMS, the Marquette County Road Commission, Anttilas Towing, and Central Dispatch all assisted the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
