MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – An author who grew up in the UP, is continuing her mission of bettering the education system for both students and the prison system.
Wednesday evening Northern Michigan University’s campus, Teacher, Writer, and Producer Beth Deacon presented “Seven Doors In”, a book she wrote about the challenges she faced while teaching in a maximum security prison.
Beth and Director Terence Gordon also showed “Intent Unknown”, a movie she produced visualizing the challenge of decision-making in difficult situations.
“You don’t know how you’re going to react to a situation you might say I’m gonna do this or I’m gonna do that I’m gonna get out there and beat somebody up or whatever I have to do. You don’t know until you’re in that situation and we show how the different characters react in different situations,” commented Author Beth Deacon
She also held a casting call for her next two sequels to the series, looking for actors who can show growth, as she saw in those she taught.
