The annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge returns to the Up North Lodge in Gwinn on Saturday, March 16. More than 100 plungers are signed up to participate so far and contributing to the $25,000 goal.
Carl White, one of the organizers of the Polar Plunge and part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, says over $1.8 million has been raised across the state at over two dozen plunges. All the money goes to Special Olympics athletes to cover the cost of participating in their sports, including equipment and uniforms.
There will be on-site registration the day of the event starting at 2:30 p.m., followed by a short parade of athletes at 4 p.m. and the plunge immediately after. If you’d like to get a team together to participate and help raise money, or to find out more information, click here.
