ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Holy Name Catholic School will have new leadership for the 2024 – 2025 school year.

Nathan Vande Hey will assume the position of Holy Name Catholic School Principal on July 1. He will also oversee Holy Name High School – A Chesterton Academy.

Vande Hey currently works as Head of School and System President at St. Ignatius Catholic School in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. He has twenty-four years of experience teaching in the Kaukauna Area School District.

Until July, Vande Hey will advise Holy Name leadership on various decisions that will affect the upcoming school year, such as the budget, hiring, and curriculum.

In a press release, Vande Hey stated, “We want to share the love of Jesus and help build disciples with the families in Escanaba. I believe this school forms virtuous students who will be influential leaders in the community. I look forward to joining the Holy Name School family.”

Vande Hey’s priorities include enhancing Holy Name’s classical curriculum and faith instruction, increasing student enrollment, and supporting teachers and staff in their professional development.

Holy Name’s pastoral delegate, Very Rev. Tim Ferguson, says he looks forward to working with Mr. Vande Hey in helping Holy Name thrive.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Nathan and his family to Holy Name,” he stated. “Nathan brings to the principal position a wealth of experience both as a teacher and as a head of school, and he is passionate about our classical Catholic curriculum and faith-filled instruction. His exceptional communication and team-building abilities will further unite the school community and strengthen its educational and spiritual mission.”

Holy Name Catholic School, located at 409 South 22nd Street in Escanaba, is currently accepting new students for the 2024 – 2025 school year. For more information, call (906) 786-7550 or visit holynamecrusaders.com or the school’s Facebook page.
