GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Saturday, dogs and their humans gathered in Gladstone’s Van Cleve Park for a chilly outdoor event.
At 9:00 a.m., The Gladstone Public Safety Department hosted the Delta County Doggie Dash Run/Walk. Participants started at the Gladstone Beach House, running or walking the 5k route to Saunder’s Point and back.
A group of dog owners and their four-legged friends braved single-digit temperatures to complete the Delta County Doggie Dash. The cost to register was a $15 donation to the Delta Animal Shelter or a donation of $10 with dog or cat food.
“I’d seen on Facebook that they were looking for donations, the animal shelter, so I spoke with the department and we came up with doing a fundraiser for them,” said Gladstone Public Safety Officer Charity Potier. “I think it’s very important for the community, especially the animals. Getting out, coming together as a community, helping out the animal shelter.”
Officer Potier says Gladstone Public Safety plans to pick a different local organization in need to host a fundraiser for each year.
Anyone who would like to make a donation to the Delta Animal Shelter can stop by during business hours at 6975 County 426 M.5 Road in Escanaba. Call the shelter at (906) 789-0230 or visit the Delta Animal Shelter website or Facebook page for more information.
