MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The U.P. 200 is 2 weeks away, the Marquette DDA would like to remind the public about rules for enjoying the races with alcoholic beverages.
According to the DDA the standard rules for the social district which allows for open consumption and carry of alcohol on public sidewalks by those over the age of 21 will be in place. The social district will remain active until 10 p.m. After that if you want to drink alcohol you have to do so inside of a restaurant, bar, or on private property.
Restaurants and breweries on Third and Washington Street in Marquette will have social district drinks available. Drinks have to be in designated social district cups and only alcohol purchased at bars and restaurants can be consumed.
“Public intoxication is still the law, you can not make a ruckus, you have to be responsible, this is a privilege and we would like to keep that, so we ask everybody to drink responsibly,” remarked Mike Bradford of the Marquette DDA.
