MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Athletes competing in this weekend’s annual Noquemanon Ski Marathon picked up their packets tonight ahead of the big race day tomorrow.
Despite some course changes, the events are still happening on Marquette County trails tomorrow. Organizers say nearly 1,500 people signed up for the events, including the 50-k, 24-k, 12-k, and 15-mile snowshoe. All of which are shortened due to poor trail conditions.
Due to the warm weather and variable trail conditions spectators are encouraged to not park near the trails.
“Instead if you could come to the Superior Dome and ride the buses down, we would really appreciate that because all of the organization is really small in the race areas,” remarked Race Coordinator Nikki Dewald.
Racing begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Buses are scheduled to begin running at 7 a.m.
