GOP Field Shrinks to Two Ahead of NH Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Huge shakeup in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination over the weekend. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has dropped out. It’s now a two-person race between former President Donald Trump and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

Many experts are very surprised DeSantis called it quits, especially after a second-place finish in Iowa, and just days away from the New Hampshire primary.

Now that the Florida governor is out, he has endorsed Trump for the nomination. We’re told that endorsement is expected to boost Trump’s sizeable lead even further.

So, what does Nikki Haley have to do to keep this going? We asked the experts and here’s what they told us:

“I think if Haley gets 40 percent or better in New Hampshire then I think she can ride it out into South Carolina,” said Dr. Todd Belt, George Washington University professor and director of political management. “South Carolina won’t be until a month after New Hampshire and so she’s gonna have some time to get her forces back together, fundraising back together and try to deliver her home state and try to avoid something really catastrophic which is losing her home state to Donald Trump.”

The New Hampshire primary is on Tuesday. Independents can vote in the Granite State’s primary elections. Experts believe Haley has an advantage with independent voters over trump.
