CHAMPION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – UPDATE: The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has identified the person who died in the crash at 50-year-old Tara Gluski.

One person is dead after a crash in Champion Township Friday afternoon.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 3:30 p.m. at US-41 and CR- AKE. According to a press release, a pickup truck driven by a 59-year-old Negaunee man was heading eastbound on US-41 when an SUV heading westbound on US-41 turned into its path.
One of the passengers in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and second passenger in the SUV were hospitalized for serious injuries.
The driver of the pickup did not go to the hospital and only reported minor pain.
Poor weather is believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
The sheriff’s office says the name of the deceased will not be released at this time for the sake of the family’s privacy.
The sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, MSP troopers, UP Health System EMS, Michigamme Township Fire & EMS, Champion Township Fire, West-End EMS, Marquette County Rescue Unit 131, and Anttila’s Towing.
