FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – At approximately 11:15 am on Friday morning, the Marquette County Sheriff Office responded to an inflight emergency involving a small Piper Tri-Pacer airplane that landed on M94 near Scorpion Rd. in Forsyth Township.
The airplane, piloted by 32-year-old Ryan Graves of Munising, was flying to Marquette-Sawyer Regional Airport for an unrelated scheduled maintenance. 65-year-old Mark Krumanaker, from Huntington, Indiana, was also on the plane.
During the flight, Graves began experiencing engine issues, and was unable to land at the airport safely. Graves contacted the tower at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport to notify them of the inflight emergency, and his only option was to land on the roadway.
No one was injured, and no damage was done as a result of the incident.
The aircraft was escorted from M94 to the confinements of the airport by airport personnel, Forsyth Township Police, and Sheriff’s Department personnel.
Forsyth Township Fire and EMS and Marquette County ARFF also assisted on the scene.
