MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – With New Years coming up and Christmas over, it’s important to be aware of what our pets are getting into.
Marquette Veterinary Clinic is reminding everyone that leftover food can make trashcans look like treasure troves to our pets, and things like chicken bones and wrappers can be dangerous when eaten.
The Clinic’s Co-Owner Dr. Edward Brauer II said it’s also important to be careful while disposing of holiday decorations.
“When we start taking down our Christmas decorations, keep in mind that animals still are pretty inquisitive,” said Dr. Brauer, “and they will chew on electrical cords, or if you have tinsel and garland that if they get into that it can cause GI or obstruction problems if they get into those kinds of products.”
Dr. Brauer also said to be especially careful of outdoor pets once the weather gets colder, especially when we start to see subzero temperatures.
