ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The recall election of a third and final Delta County Commissioner will officially appear on the ballot in May, 2024.
In July, members of the Delta County Citizens for Ethical Leadership filed petitions supporting the recall of County Commissioners David Moyle, Bob Barron, and Robert Petersen. Circulators had to collect a minimum number of signatures from each district and submit them to Delta County Clerk Nancy Przewrocki for verification.
A recall election for Moyle was confirmed in October, while a recall election for Barron was confirmed in November. After reviewing a list of challenges submitted by Petersen, Przewrocki determined at least 775 signatures from his district were valid on December 11.
“I was talking to somebody about where in the United States that this has possibly happened where we were able to get three recalls all the way through the system,” said Delta County Citizens for Ethical Leadership member Stephen Benoit. “I think that’s a huge sign that the community wants to see some change, and some positive change, for our community.”
WZMQ 19 has reached out to Commissioner Petersen for comment and will update this story if he responds.
