MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – Operation Warm-Up was a huge success!
Operation Warm-UP, a clothing drive that helps families in the area receive winter clothes for the season, was put together due to a partnership with Goodwill and WZMQ TV19.
This collection of winter clothes was held throughout all Goodwill locations, where you could donate your used but in good shape winter items, or donate with cash by change rounding at the register.
“Community support was great, especially for out first year we filled up almost all our barrels in all of our locations with that support,” said Will Snedden, Goodwill’s Donated Goods Regional Manager. “So for the first year the community really came together and gave us support.”
When not counting the donation received in cash, Goodwill will be able to send out about 300-400 total coats, gloves, hats, and other items in good enough shape to be sent to the local area schools.
Cash donations were a hit for Operation Warm-UP bringing in $2,700 of total cash rounds ups, and making it so Goodwill was able to buy 444 new winter items that will also be sent to local schools.
