MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Downtown Marquette was taken over Friday night by the annual holiday parade.
Hundreds lined the sidewalk to see floats from Marquette county businesses and organizations light up Third Street. New this year was live music at the Marquette Commons to get the crowd rocking as they waited for Santa to make an appearance.
The parade was capped off with the Mayor of Marquette lighting the Christmas tree located in the heart of Downtown Marquette.
The DDA says the parade and gathering is a special time for community members and families to celebrate and enjoy the season.
“One thing I think that is really fun that we do year after year is, we work with the post office, the post office loves to collect letters to Santa, so kids bring their letter’s down, give those to the post office, and Santa will write them back,” said Tara Laase-Mckinney, the Executive Director of the Marquette DDA.
The Marquette DDA’s next big event will be the New Years Ball Drop at the masonic center December 31st.
