The Community Foundation of Marquette County and the Gwinn Area Community Fund awarded grants to their fall recipients today.
This grant cycle was their largest yet with six grants totaling $25,000.
The main recipient was the Gwinn St. Vincent DePaul food pantry which received $10,000 for repairs and infrastructure improvements.
Gwinn Area Community Fund President John Maki said these grants go a long way towards helping the community.
“We’re able to really zero in on specific needs,” said Maki, “and these grants are going to go a long way towards supporting the programs that are going to deal with those issues.”
The CEO of the Community Foundation of Marquette County Zosia Eppenseiner said it’s important to remember the organizations these grants will support, and the donors that make it possible.
“It’s very important to recognize the work of our local organizations that provide support to our seniors, our youth through events, and our food pantries,” said Eppenseiner, “so this is a really important grant cycle for us we want to recognize their work, but we are also very grateful for the individual support from a private donor who made this $25,000 grant cycle possible.”
The Community Foundation says they are hopeful that the partnership with their private donor will continue, and they will be able to award similar grants in the future.
