MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – Today is the 248th anniversary of the Marine Corps’ founding.
Every year marines from around Marquette gather to celebrate the corps and all its members.
Tonight they were celebrating the birthday at Third Coast Pizza, with pizza, pop, and even a birthday cake.
The Party’s Coordinator Cpl. Robert Bannan, said the most important part of the celebration is the being together.
“The Marine Corps is about comradery,” said Bannan, “You can’t make it by yourself, you never could. You could always count on the Marine Corps no matter where you were or what was going on you would always count on the guy next to you to be there, always.”
Organizers said they hope to continue holding the celebration at Third Coast Pizza in years to come.
