IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The heart of Iron Mountain is now home to a brand-new, 4-story extended stay haven. The TownePlace Suites by Marriott, located at the bustling intersection of Stephenson Avenue and Ludington Street, is already teeming with activity. Staff members have been meticulously trained, the finishing touches added to the breakfast area, and the 95 splendid rooms are soon to be unveiled to eager visitors. The operations manager, Theresa Chudy, is bubbly about the official grand opening.
“You can feel at home when you’re staying with us. You know, big closets. Nice big showers and tubs. They can make their own food if they want, if they don’t want to go out to eat. I’m just excited that we are here to offer this community, and the people visiting our community, this beautiful place.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony, organized in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for early November.
“Left and right, all week long since our phones went live, we’ve been getting calls; people have been coming by, stopping in. It’s been awesome to see it. Everyone’s excited. A lot of people in the town are stopping in, having tours; we welcome everybody to come and take a look and book with us, have your family and friends book with us,” Chudy chimed.
She expresses her gratitude for the exceptional team that’s been part of the hotel since the groundwork construction.
“We have such a great team. They’ve been with us, a lot of them since we’ve been here at the groundwork construction, so they’ve been amazing. We’re almost fully staffed. We’re looking for a couple more people, but we’re able to run this place, minus the few. I am so fortunate to have this staff.”
The hotel prides itself on offering a full complimentary breakfast to its guests, with a delectable array of options.
“We offer a full breakfast complementary to our guests, save oatmeal, cereals, yogurts, all those little goodies to go inside your yogurts in your oatmeal’s fruits, granola, things like that, and all the different milk types. We have two hot items served, minimally per day. We have a waffle station, all kinds of goodies to go with that. All the bread, bagels, English muffins, and everything to go on top of it. Every day there’ll be fresh fruit, coffee, and tea. It’s a very, very big, awesome breakfast buffet,” she shared.
Theresa highlights the local partnerships that the hotel is fostering, with local businesses offering discounts to their guests.
“So many businesses have been supporting us. We have a TownePlace map on our wall. We have already been reaching out to local businesses to come join partnerships. So, some of these businesses have offered our guests discounts, so they can go and visit them, and then, if you were to look at our awesome TownePlace map, we have them highlighted, where they’re at in the town, around us, so it’s been really awesome that guests can come and visit and have that interest,” Chudy pointed out.
The primary focus of the TownePlace Suites by Marriott is to cater to the needs of business travelers.
“Primarily, we’re here for the business traveler, like construction workers, vendors that come to work, contractors that work for businesses in the area that need a couple of nights, days to a week, to a month, however long. All our rooms offer full kitchens, so it’s going to have all of your pots and pans, and cookware, and a dishwasher, refrigerator, full-size microwave, a stove, everything you need to cook, minus the food,” Chudy informed.
For those looking for quick bites or refreshments, there’s a convenient market area at the front desk near the business center.
“We have a little market area at the front desk, in case you just want to grab a snack or a burrito, grab a soda, or – a pop – as that’s what we say here up north,” she laughed.
