NISULA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Halloween is still a few weeks off but a farm in Nisula is making sure people can get into the spooky spirit.
It looks like a scene straight out of the Walking Dead. it’s complete with zombies, guns, and screams.
“Hop on a lighted trailer, we have gel blasters with glow in the dark ammo, take a loop through three stages and get to shoot at some live zombies,” commented Zachary Hulkkonen, the Manager at the attraction.
The zombie hunt is put on by the Hulkkonen family farm, it’s the third year the farm has run a version of the themed hayride. For the Hulkkonen’s, putting on the attraction is about providing entertainment for the local community.
“We live in a small town, so that’s why we came up with it,” added Judy Hulkkonen, the Owner of the farm.
At first Judy admitted she didn’t care for the idea of having zombies running around her farm. The thought of having actors dressed as the undead and getting shot out wasn’t very appealing.
“I didn’t want anything to do with it but here I am,” exclaimed a laughing Hulkkonen.
But over the years the sight of children and adults having a good time has warmed her to the idea. She has seen people of all ages laughing, and really enjoying the ride.
“We have had from 4 year olds to 90 year olds out here, it is not just for kids, the adults too,” added Hulkkonen.
The tour takes around 15 minutes to complete, it costs $15 dollars to hop on and comes with a blaster full of ammo. Additional glow in the dark ammo can be purchased during the ride. According to those who had a chance to hop on its something you don’t wanna miss
The tours are open Saturdays through the end of October from 8:30 until 11pm. The farms address is 9299 Strawberry lane, Nisula, MI, United States, Michigan.
