MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – An award ceremony celebrating women in the workplace had a few tears along with a well-deserved standing ovation Monday afternoon. Through the West End Health Foundation, the Evergreen Awards ceremony was held at the Holiday Inn in Marquette, presenting individuals in Marquette County with an award, recognizing their continued support for mentoring women and children.
The foundation honored and revealed the 2023 recipient and also presented “Lifelong Learning Scholarships” to support women and girls in reaching their leadership potential.
The recipient of the 2023 Evergreen Award was quite surprised when her name was called, commenting that she has always helped mentor young women and children in any way possible but has never expected any recognition for the community she supports. “I’ve always thought like that’s amazing these women are amazing but that’s not me I do what I can but I don’t do it thinking I’m ever gonna be a recipient of this,” commented 2023’s Evergreen Award winner Tia Rodda.
The next Evergreen award ceremony has been scheduled tentatively for October 21st of 2024.
