MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – NMU’s football team is still looking for its first victory of the year as week 5 of the season approaches.
The team lost to Quincy University over the weekend dropping them to 0-4 on the year. First year head coach Shane Richardson praised the work ethic of his team during a press conference today. He stated that his coaching staff is happy with the way the team has been performing in practice. The question this weekend will be if the practice performance can begin to translate into game scenarios.
Northern has struggled this year on both sides of the football, the team has been plagued with injuries and inconsistent play. As the team heads into conference play this weekend Richardson remains hopeful that the team can still turn things around.
“People have got to keep the big picture in mind, and gotta be able to see that we need to keep winning little battles at a time,” Richardson went on to say, “There is a lot of football left to be played.”
The Wildcats will head downstate to Big Rapids this weekend to take on Ferris state. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
