The 18th annual Strut Your Mutt includes a dedication to passed companions

NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – In its 18th year, Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter’s (UPAWS) Strut Your Mutt annual charity walk event is coined “the biggest dog party of the year”. On Saturday, September 30th in Jackson Mine Park, the community can enjoy local vendors and many activities for both dogs and their human companions.

There is a Rescue Raffle that anyone can enter in for just $5, with a grand prize of $1,000. All the money raised with Strut Your Mutt and the raffle tickets will go towards the general fund of the shelter. Since its inception, the walk event has been about reconnecting with the community, and this year, a section of the walk will be dedicated to the puppies that have passed on the torch to new companions.

“Since Strutt has been going for so long there are a lot of dogs who have walked in the past with us, and it’s a way to remember our dogs that are no longer here but still in our hearts,” commented UPAWS Board Member Lynn Andronis.

Registration begins at 10 am Saturday with the walk beginning shortly after at 11 am.

Everyone is invited to bring your dog(s), your family, or just yourself!
