Studio Dance Arts hosts a successful fundraiser

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Studio Dance Arts Booster Club hosted a Mom-2-Mom sale, and it was a success.

This event, held in the Westwood Mall, was put on to help raise money for the competitive dance team at Studio Dance Arts.

The Mom-2-Mom sale was filled with tables of kids items, that could be used again by another parent, or bought new from booths with homemade items.

“We chose to do a mom-2-mom sale, because a lot of us have a lot of things” Says Adrian Francisco, Vice President of Studio Dance Arts Booster Club .”We are always doing hand-me-downs, and trading and selling each other things, so we thought why not open it up to the community and try to make some money for the booster club.

The booster club was reestablished this year, giving parents and kids a way to get involved and be active in their studio, while also earning some money for the competition season.

With kids in mind, the event held an area where parents could participate in drop in childcare. For $5 a child, parents could shop while their kids were safely watched, making it easy for them to browse, and raising money for the competitive dance team.

This event ended up being a success for Studio Dance Arts, bringing in about 10 participants, ready to sell some kids items. Booths were scattered throughout Westwood Mall, giving participants a large area to spread out their items.

The studio provided a snack table, with a variety of snacks that people could enjoy while looking for kids items they may need.

Along with purchasing kids items, and buying snacks, there was an area that people could donate directly to the boosters. The studio gave the option to donate through PayPal, email, and a tip jar.

“The girls work really really hard,” says Francisco. “It is a sport that comes with a lot of extra expenses, so every little bit helps.”

The Mom-2-Mom sale was held Sunday, September 10th from 10am-2pm. All profits from this event will be split between the boosters at the end of the year. These profits help cover the cost of competition fees, costumes, and other items needed for dance.
