United Way of Marquette County kicks off 80th anniversary campaign with Days of Service

MARQUETTE, Mich. – United Way of Marquette County announces Days of Service, a two-day community-wide volunteer event. The event aims to involve community members in hands-on service projects throughout the county on Sunday, Sept. 10 and Monday, Sept. 11.

The volunteer initiative culminates with UWMC’s 80th Anniversary Campaign Kickoff Monday night. Multiple nonprofits have listed volunteer opportunities for residents to take part in. Individuals, families, and businesses are all encouraged to participate.

Each day of this event, United Way of Marquette County hopes to have 80 volunteers in celebration of their 80th anniversary. All volunteers receive admission to the Campaign Kickoff Monday night at Ore Dock Brewing Co. for food and door prizes. Anyone interested in volunteering can view opportunities and sign up at yoopersunited.com/days-of-service.

The Michigan Community Service Commission is a partner of the Days of Service, celebrating September 11 as National Day of Service and Remembrance, a day to come together in unity and service.

“The goal is really to get our community to give their time, to get involved, and give back to our community,” says Andrew Rickauer, Executive Director of UWMC. “This is a great chance to unify the community as a tribute to remembering the spirit of unity and service that inspired Americans in the days after the 9/11 tragedy.”

United Way of Marquette County is partnered with 26 local nonprofit agencies for year-round collaboration and provides annual program funding for the health, education, and financial stability of all Marquette County residents.

If your business would like to have your staff volunteer in Days of Service, please visit yoopersunited.com or call 906-226-8171. If you are unable to volunteer, UWMC is also accepting monetary donations for this and future volunteer projects.
