Houghton County’s Canal View medical care facility names new CEO

HANCOCK, Mich. – Canal View – Houghton County proudly names Adam Laplander, LNHA, MS, BS, as the Chief Executive Officer– Administrator effective September 1. 

Laplander will be responsible for strategic planning, growth, overseeing daily operations of the facility and knowing the guidelines, rules and regulations of different governing boards and agencies. 

Laplander, a familiar face at Canal View, most recently served as Controller for the past 4 years. As Controller, Laplander was responsible for the financial operations of the facility.

“We are excited to bring Adam into this new role,” said Jim Tervo, Canal View – Houghton County Board Member. We believe he will provide tremendous leadership and continue our values of providing care with comfort and compassion to the residents who choose us.”

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Laplander served as a Sergeant. He is a graduate of Calumet High School and earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Accounting from Michigan Technological University. Additionally, Laplander attended Madonna University to complete the additional education required to qualify for licensure as a nursing home administrator in Michigan. 

Professional affiliations include a member of the American College of Health Care Executives (AHCE), member of the Institute of Management Accountants and serves as a board member for The Jefferson HealthPlan Michigan LCRP.

“The team at Canal View is amazing, I am surrounded by a dedicated, seasoned team that makes coming to work a pleasure,” said Laplander. ”My goal is to continue developing a strong culture and continue to provide an enriching, safe and loving environment for our residents.”

Prior to joining Canal View – Houghton County, Laplander was a Financial Analyst for Aspirus Health System and an Adjunct Instructor for the School of Business at Michigan Technological University. Laplander looks forward to embracing his new role and continuing to provide the best care and home like environment for the residents at Canal View.

Laplander resides in Laurium with his wife Jenn and their four children.
