MARINETTE, Wisc. (WZMQ) – UPDATE: On July 17th, Marinette Police Department has released the name of the victim involved in the fatal accident as 48-year-old David Joseph Fournier.
On July 16th, 2023 the Marinette Police Department identified a person of interest and located the suspect vehicle regarding this incident. That person is cooperating with Law Enforcement Authorities and their investigation.
On July 15th, 2023 at approximately 2:18 AM, Marinette County Dispatch received a 911 call for the report of an individual on a bike that had been struck by a vehicle on US 41 Interstate Bridge.
Officers located a 48-year-old unresponsive male. Officers immediately started to render life-saving measures. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene due to his injuries sustained from being struck.
Several agencies responded to the scene to assist including The Marinette Police Department, Marinette Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center- Bay Area EMS personnel, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office, Menominee Fire Department and Menominee Police Department.
This is an ongoing active investigation and the Marinette Police Department is currently trying to locate a suspect vehicle that fled the scene.
