ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus has set up the big top in Escanaba for the weekend.
The traveling one-ring circus will take place at the U.P. State Fairgrounds on July 8 and 9. It will feature aerialists, daredevils, clowns, and live animals–including horses, a lion, and two rescued tigers.
Leo Acton, clown and tour guide for the Saturday morning big top raising, says the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus has something for everyone.
“I really hope folks get a chance to come out and see an incredible American institution,” said Acton. “You’re going to have a good time with your entire family. The circus is made for everybody; it’s not exclusive at all. We really want everyone to get involved and be a part of the show.”
The circus will hold two shows each day at 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The show lasts approximately 90 minutes.
On Saturday, July 8, the midway will be open at 1:00 p.m. Guests can enjoy pony rides, face painting, a bounce house, a giant side, and concessions. The box office will be open at that time as well.
On Monday, WZMQ 19 News will take you under the big top for a look inside the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus.
