SANDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a rollover crash Wednesday afternoon in Sands Township.
It happened around 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of M-553 and Kelly Johnson Memorial Dr.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office a southbound Ford Edge occupied by two Gwinn residents was stopped with its left blinker on, waiting to turn onto Kelly Johnson Memorial Dr.
The Edge was rear-ended by a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a Gwinn woman. The Ford rolled onto its side, while the Jeep came to a stop on the northbound shoulder of M-553.
The driver of the Jeep was treated at the scene, cited, and released. The driver and passenger in the Ford were taken to UP Health System- Marquette and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Michigan State Police, Sands Township Fire and EMS, UPHS-EMS, various citizens, and Heavy Hooker Towing.
