ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Thursday evening, a beer travel guide author took his book tour to an Escanaba brewery.
Jon C. Stott visited Upper Hand Brewery to sign copies of his new book, Yooper Ale Trails.
Stott, who currently lives in New Mexico, has spent his summers in the Upper Peninsula for 50 years. He’s watched the number of breweries grow from zero in the 1970s to 29 in the present.
Stott visited each Upper Peninsula brewery over the last few years. He says his book details what makes them all special.
“Upper Hand’s IPA will be different from the one in Menominee or the one in Munising or Manistique,” said Stott. “Each brewer brings his own specialty to it, and there’s a subtlety of taste. If you enjoy beer and you sip it and savor it, it’s every bit as good as a good wine.”
On Friday, June 9, Stott will take his book tour to East Channel Brewing in Munising from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. He will be at Barrel + Beam Brewing in Marquette on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Stott will then go to Manistique for a signing at George Brewing from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
