MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Women’s Center in Marquette is celebrating 50 years of helping domestic violence victims.
Tonight it began its annual Nifty 250 fundraiser. The fundraiser runs for the next month, until July 7th. The goal is to receive donations of $250, the amount it takes to house a family in the shelter.
Representatives from the Women’s Center have said this year’s fundraiser is critical for the organization.
“The Women’s Center has faced just about $100,000 in state funding cuts this year, and probably in 2024 were going to increase that,” remarked Andrea Numikoski, the Women’s Center Development Director.
Donations can be made through the women’s center website or by visiting their office at 1310 south front street in Marquette.
