GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A statewide sports competition is coming to Delta County this weekend.
Presented by Visit Escanaba, The North Bluff Open is part of the 2023 Northern Michigan Disc Golf Tour. The event is officially sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association. The tour began in Cadillac on April 1, and will end in Marquette on August 19.
Both amateur and professional disc golfers will compete for a variety of prizes, including $1,200 in added cash for the professional division.
According to tournament director Greg Argyle, disc golf is becoming more popular in places like the Upper Peninsula, making Gladstone a great place to host this event.
“In the last few years, we have seen a huge boom in disc golf and we have seen a lot of tournaments growing, leagues getting bigger,” Argyle said. “With the creation of this world-class course here, we wanted to add Gladstone on our stop and feature the North Bluff Course.”
Spectators are invited to watch the tournament, which begins at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4. The North Bluff Disc Golf Course is located at 900 North Bluff Drive, behind the ball field.
Registration closes on Friday, June 2 at 4:00 p.m. For more information about the North Bluff Open, click here or here.
