GWINN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette County Cares Coalition partnered with Gwinn Modeltowner Athletes and Forsyth Police Department earlier today to bring “Sticker Shock” to Larry’s Family Foods in Gwinn on Wednesday.
“Sticker Shock” is a student-run awareness campaign, helping to educate the public about the dangers of providing alcohol to anyone under 21. The project organizes youth, supervised by local police, to place stickers on the outside of beer cases with the warning “If They Can’t Buy It- Don’t Supply It”.
“So we’re hoping that the students are fostering community participation and encouraging their fellow athletes and students alike to rethink drinking especially around graduation,” said Health Educator Ashly Gleason.
Organizers noted that this is an especially important reminder around graduation season when there is typically an uptick in underage drinking.
