BIG BAY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Residents of Michigamme and Humboldt Townships have the chance to meet face to face with the eagle mine tomorrow.
The mine is hosting its semi-annual community forum series. Leaders from the mine will give a presentation on the last 6 months of happenings at the mine, and have a report on safety and environmental incidents.
There is also a question and answer portion where members of the public can ask questions and raise concerns relating to the mine or mining operations.
“The purpose of the forum is to be really transparent about Eagles operations, what went well at Eagle and what didn’t go well over the last 6 months, and also the opportunity to learn from the community, what is their opinion about Eagle Mine, what ways can we improve, is there community events we should be involved in,” said the Eagle Mine External Affairs Manager Matt Johnson.
The Eagle Mine is currently hiring for a number of positions, including management and general laborer roles. The mine says it’s committed to hiring local workers.
“The Eagle Mine has many positions open right now, in many different categories at both the mine sight and the mill sight, we encourage people to go to social media to learn about different job opportunities,” remarked Johnson.
The first forum will be at the Michigamme town hall tomorrow at noon, and the second will be at the Humboldt Township hall at 5:30.
