MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette’s Dancing with our Stars competition had its finale tonight.
Dancers were able to show off their months of hard work and raise over $120,000 for the U.P. Hospice Foundation.
Teams competed in this year’s Dancing With Our Stars competition. Together they held a number of fundraisers over the last 3 months to raise the $120,000. The money will go directly to the Foundation to provide critical end of life services to Upper Peninsula residents.
This year’s competition was a record breaking one. Team Digneit raised over $35,000, shattering the previous single team record.
“It all goes to hospice which is an amazing experience in itself to be able to help those people out,” remarked Pat Digneit.
But the competition wasn’t all fundraising. The teams have been perfecting their dance moves and tonight, it showed. After totaling up the votes from online and the judges on stage, the 2023 Dancing With Our Stars champion was Team Herman.
“We are so happy and so honored to even be given the opportunity to be up here today,” said Elisa Herman shortly after winning the Crystal Mirror Trophy.
The fan favorite award went to team Digneit.
The U.P. Hospice Foundation says they are already working to make next year’s competition bigger and better.
Dancing with our stars is the only fundraiser for the U.P. Hospice Foundation but donations are accepted year round. You can make a contribution here.
