Iron Mountain, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Northern Lights YMCA is gearing up for an exciting summer as the Summer Day Camp is set to begin in less than two weeks. With nearly double the number of kids signed up compared to last year, the Youth Program Director, Betty Lou Chartier, is announcing some epic surprises to keep the fun going all summer long.
“We’re gonna have presentations by the K9 unit from Iron Mountain, we’re gonna get the smokehouse over here from the Iron Mountain Fire Department. We’re going to try to get over to the Iron Mine in Norway. I know that’s something that I have never been to,” Chartier announced.
The Summer Camp is also planning a field trip to the Thomas Movie Theatre and will be adding more fun S.T.E.M. activities to the program, like building catapults and computer coding. The camp will be adding seven new camp counselors to the program, which is open to children ages four to fourteen.
Excitement is in the air as the Northern Lights YMCA in Iron Mountain prepares for the start of the Summer Day Camp. With 78 kids signed up so far, the Youth Program is planning some unforgettable experiences that will keep kids engaged and entertained all summer long. Parents are encouraged to sign up their kids soon before spots fill up.
