MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Blueberry Festival is just around the corner and the Blueberry Poster Contest is looking for community votes.
The contest puts local artists and their work on display as the actual cover of the Blueberry Fest. The Marquette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) had 22 submissions this year of art ranging from acrylic work to even digital art pieces.
All the artwork is on display downstairs at the Peter White Public Library and the winner will receive a cash prize of $300 dollars. The winner will be announced on May 31st along with the winning piece to be displayed throughout the festival that begins July 2nd.
“There’s quite a few things some as simple as you know blueberries themselves to very complicated pieces incorporating like different animals if it’s a moose a squirrel a lot of bears…bears and blueberries just seem to work so well together,” said Marquette DDA Outreach Coordinator Micheal Bradford.
