MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette Arts and Culture is looking to add more words to the bike path with the “Words to Live and Bike By” mural. The words that are displayed right now were painted during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to continue the inspiration for the arts through isolation.
Designs this year must include a word promoting positive change, an illustration within that word, and a ranked list of locations for this year’s potential mural sites.
Potential mural sites on the Holly Greer Bike Path this year are listed below:
1. 7th Street & Beacon House
2. Hospital corridor & Beacon House
3. Intersection of Bike Path & Center Street
4. Kaufman Sports Complex
5. S. Lakeshore Boulevard & E. Hampton Street
“We have over 7 miles of bike path in our city and I think that that bike path connects us it connects neighborhoods it connects us to our lakeshore it connects us to our downtown,” said Arts and Culture Manager Tiina Morin.
The Arts and Culture Center is calling for art submissions by Monday, May 1st, and will announce the winners on Monday, May 15th.
