MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – NMU Rec Sports is bringing back a popular event to help students relieve stress before their final exams. The Stress Buster Zumbathon and Food Drive is happening tomorrow night at The Vandament arena on NMU’s campus.
Rec Sports instructor and NMU Professor, Mark Shevy, says he started the event after he saw how much Zumba helped attendees throughout the year. He wanted to create an event that would give students an extra break from studying, while promoting health and wellness within the community.
“One of the things I like the most about this event is seeing the community come together.” Dr. Shevy says, “It’s just the togetherness, you see the smiling and the laughing and the chatting and the cheering and the dancing together, it’s just a really good feeling.”
The event starts at 9pm in The Vandament arena. Anyone is invited to the event, admission is free with a rec sports pass, or with a donation of a non perishable item for The NMU Food Pantry.
