UPEC honors this beautiful place we call home

Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition, or UPEC, presents their 14th annual Celebrate the UP!

Coming together March 10th -11th, to honor this winter wonderland we get to call home and doing it with a smile! After a 2-year hiatus of having this event only available online, Evan Zimmermann, VP of UPEC, couldn’t be happier to bring the community together this year in person and being able to see people smile.

Zimmerman said, “My favorite thing about this year is that we haven’t been able to do this live for a few years and this is an opportunity to bring new people in.”

UPEC Supporter and Fancy-Free Owner, Greta Hillstrom, will be participating for the first time this year and the idea of strengthening the community and bond makes this exciting.

Hillstrom said, “You never know what’s going to happen, who you are going to connect with and the things that you are going to learn and the things that you are going to experience.”

Greta recently learned about UPEC and sees how important human connection is instrumental in growth as a community and as a business owner.

Hillstrom added, “Community support allows organizations like this to grow and bloom and keep doing what we are doing.”

And whether you are interested in land conservation, education or you are interested in biking, the weekend is slated with opportunity for everyone to learn and share with one another.

Zimmerman said, “You can just see that moment where those minds melt, and they start connecting with each other and playing off one another and they start elevating each other and it’s so beautiful to see that.”

UPEC says they have an amazing line up ready to share their talents and skills. They hope the new additions to their already slated program will bring our community even more excitement and opportunities to participate while learning more about their coalition.
