MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Tonight, Innovate Marquette hosted Women in Entrepreneurship, empowering women in technology. This annual celebration features local entrepreneurs, visionaries and business professionals from across the U-P. who come together and share business resources which according to Kristin Johnson, Innovate Marquette’s Marketing Coordinator follows the mission of Innovate Marquette.
Johnson said, “This just creates this opportunity to connect them to the resources they need or help them advance their idea. So, its events like this, that really go back to our Innovate Marquette at its core.”
Striving to make the event bigger and better, Kristin asked regular attendees for their input and the suggestion of Britta Carlson, Founder of Epic Childcare, is making this event more feasible for everyone.
Carlson said, “For single parents, we need to provide childcare so they can attend and so we are really excited about giving this opportunity, hopefully setting a standard in Marquette, where when you host events on evenings or weekends, to really make it available to all and to create childcare on site.”
And with the addition of childcare, the registered number of attendees was getting close to doubling the existing record set just the year before of 100 attendees.
MC and Moderator, Adele Piper, said the event not only had incredible speakers ready to share their business journeys, she said, “This year we have a cash flow presentation which is especially useful for those folks that find themselves in an entrepreneur journey because they have so much passion in what they are doing and oops, don’t totally understand how to run a business.”
After the presentation the slated panel of women in entrepreneurs took the stage sharing in their journeys followed by a Q & A session giving everyone an opportunity to participate.
