MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Northern Michigan University Alpine Skiing team took home gold this weekend at Marquette Mountain.
The Midwest Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Conference held their regional competition over the weekend right here in Marquette. Northern dominated the weekend winning 3 out of 4 team competitions. Brad Seaborg,a Northern skier and Marquette native, also finished in first place in 2 individual events.
Seaborg comes from skiing royalty in Marquette, his brother and Father both skied for NMU before him. When asked about the home field advantage when skiing at Marquette Mountain, Seaborg says “We got to practice the race runs all week, I’ve been skiing here my whole life, and it’s a real honor to compete for Northern like my father and brother before me.
The Northern Alpine Ski Team will head to Mammoth California in early March to compete for a National Title.
