Our UP representatives are busy downstate getting started in the legislature, down in Lansing our state house representatives are already at work making room for voices from The UP.
It’s been two weeks since the newly elected legislators have taken their seats. Reelected in the 110th, representative Greg Markkanen said he’s ready to take a closer look at education here in Michigan and the economy of The UP.
In her first week in the house, the 109th’s representative Jenn Hill introduced a bill package addressing some of the concerns she campaigned on. Outside of legislation, hill says she’s excited to set up lines of communication with her constituents.
In the 108th, representative Dave Prestin says he’s focused on making sure legislators from the lower peninsula understand the different problems that The UP faces.
Our UP legislators are just getting started, but with a few bills already introduced, and special committee assignments handed out, our UP representatives have laid the foundation for their future plans in Michigan’s house.
