A new alpine ski exhibit is under construction at The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center on Northern Michigan University’s campus. The centers new display showcases the history of downhill skiing herein the U.P. The exhibit features some of the ski hills still open in The U.P., as well as information about some of the closed hills from The U.P’s past. Daniel Truckey, The Director of the Beaumier U.P Heritage Center said he hopes it’ll appeal to not just skiers but anyone with an interest in winter sports or U.P. history “I think it’ll appeal to a lot of people and i hope the ski community will come, they’ll be out skiing so hopefully they’ll take some time off from skiing to come in and actually see it”
The exhibit opens tomorrow, Saturday, January 21st at noon and is free and open to the public until this April.
