LANSING, MICH. (WZMQ)- Down in Lansing, a new legislature is getting ready to begin. There are a few familiar faces returning to represent the upper peninsula, and a few new faces too.
Representatives Jenn Hill and Dave Prestin are already in Lansing, preparing for their first session in the state’s new house of representatives. Representative Prestin said it’s been a whirlwind, and that settling into the initial duties of the office has been a time-consuming process.
for both reps, this new position means long commutes to Lansing and back home to The UP on a weekly basis, Hill says she plans on using her six-hour commute to make phone calls and keep in touch with her staff in Marquette
Prestin and Hill are both excited to start working as a voice for yoopers in the capitol. Preresetitive Hill says she’s excited to start working to improve the lives of Yoopers.
Representative Prestin said he’s ready to tackle issues as they arise and to find points where they can unite and compromise.
both legislators have been preparing since their election in November, and say they are excited to get to work.
