HOUGHTON COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) — A 13-year-old girl from out of state died Saturday following a snowmobile crash in Houghton County, according to Michigan State Police.
It was reported on DNR Trail 8 near M-28 in Duncan Township around 11:53 a.m.
The girl was moving over to allow oncoming snowmobiles to pass when she was pulled from the trail by the deep snow, lost control of snowmobile and crashed into a tree, troopers said.
She suffered a serious head injury and was taken by ambulance to Baraga County Memorial Hospital where she later died, State Police said.
The driver was using the snowmobile under the supervision of her father, according to troopers.
Both are from Missouri.
The crash remains under investigation.
