MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – The Northwoods Test Kitchen has been built in the back of Barrel and Beam brewery. Focused on crafting barrel-aged ale, the Barrel and Beam have served its U.P. community since 2016. The newly built Northwoods Test Kitchen creates an opportunity for Barrel and Beam to accompany the brews with a fine, locally sourced menu.
It’s a small kitchen, marrying the pop-up restaurant and food truck style of food, into one big happy family. Kitchen manager Alex Palzewicz says the deli-style, grab-and-go dining fits perfectly with the Barrel and Beam.
“The point is to honor and respect local food. Bring that access of local food to the community and really talk about the importance of food to us as human beings and our culture”, says Palzewicz.
Sharing the culinary arts, the Test Kitchen was born out of an idea to connect people with the art of food making.
“Food’s really intimate and we want to be able to connect with that and so we’re trying to offer a space with delicious food, but also a space where we can bring in other people that are gonna educate us as well”, says Palzewicz.
