November 8th record voting turnout

MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – This election season saw a large amount of voter turnout, stated later this afternoon by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, it’s a record-breaking voter turnout. As votes are still being counted and results are entered, the Marquette County Courthouse and others tallying votes have still lots to go through. Senator Ed McBroom says being at the close of the election season “feels good to you know to be at the end of the long road to get here it’s very humbling”. Mcbroom’s votes are seeing promising results leading with just over 62%.

“I personally believe that this election and the next election are probably the most, two of the most important elections of my lifetime”, says 108th District State Representative David Preston who leads in favor of 65%.

As they continue certifying the results, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Tudor Dixon’s race for Governor of Michigan and the proposals presented have undoubtedly brought new voters to the polls.

“However it turns out that our elections have been fair and secure and what that the voters decide on we’re absolutely going to abide by and appreciate so”, said 38th District Candidate John Braamse. Governor Whitmer’s votes as of earlier today were reaching well over 2 million votes as Tudor Dixon pushes just past 1.6 million.

The Jenn Hill and Melody Wagner race is still very much in favor of Hill for State Representative of the 109th district with almost 22 thousand votes. Hill say’s “what’s been really fun for me today is the number of first-time voters of all ages that I met today I met a grandma that was a first-time voter and I met a 19-year-old who was a first-time voter so that’s really exciting that people are getting out and getting involved in democracy”.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says nearly all unofficial results have been reported by midday and this November 8th election does spark history with the number of new voters. “A great big thank you to all the voters to all the citizens of Michigan”, said Dr. Bob Lorinser who falls being Republican candidate Jack Bergman at 59%.

Entering the next couple of weeks, officials will be finalizing the counts and presenting the official results. For updated results following the election, click here for Michigan’s votes (updated every 10 minutes).
